It was a great honour to welcome Barbara and Denise from Birmingham Schools of Sanctuary who visited school to present us with our School of Sanctuary Award. Our journey began in Autumn 2021 when we joined with other schools in the Tolkien Cluster in finding out more and making plans.
As a Catholic school, whose mission encourages us to reach out to others and work together in the name of Christ Jesus, we see this award as part of our calling from God. It enables us to put what we learn through the Catholic School Pupil Profile and Catholic Social Teaching in to action.
In our assembly, we shared the prayer that St. John Henry Newman gave us where we are reminded that we are all a link in a chain, here to support one another in the name of Christ. We celebrated all of the work that we have completed where we have learnt about the experiences of refugees.
