The week began with Odd Socks Day on Monday 11th – thanks to everyone who participated in this event to celebrate the many differences there are between us all.

In our school assembly we covered the theme for 2024 which is ‘Choose Respect.’ The assembly showed us all that we must speak up when we see prejudice or discrimination. We also reminded ourselves what bullying is – not an argument with a friend; something more serious where there is an imbalance of power.

During the week Class Act Theatrix joined us in school to explore the theme ‘Choose Respect’ through a series of drama workshops with every year group. The children were very engaged and enthusiastic and enjoyed the opportunity to learn in a different way.

By raising awareness, we not only support those who are being bullied but also let potential bullies know that their actions are unacceptable. Every child this week has been asked to think of who would be on what we call their ‘Helping Hand’ and name five adults that they would go to if they needed help or support with issues such as bullying or discrimination.
