Our pupils learnt about William Shakespeare, his writings and his life in an all immersive day at Mary Arden’s Farm in Stratford upon Avon. Pupils had a real Tudor Farm experience at the stunning setting – the childhood home of William Shakespeare’s mother.
Using authentic clothing and materials, their living history experience brought the curriculum to life and pupils enjoyed spending the day as Tudor children helping on the working farm.
Christmas during Shakespeare’s lifetime was remarkably different from how it is celebrated today, so we forgot thoughts of tinsel and fairy lights and travelled back in time to discover a traditional Tudor Christmas.
The day was transformed with winter greenery and garlands of ivy and holly to give everyone a glimpse into how Christmas was celebrated in the late 16th century.
